Title: Just joined from South Jersey
Post by: 3dachshunds on August 20, 2024, 03:16:02 PM
Hello everybody!

Just wanted to introduce myself. Acquired 1992 BMW K75 about week ago in western Pennsylvania. Had several boxer engine BMWs in past, never even considered non-boxer BMW, until I came across K75 owned by a son of my Airbnb host in rural Germany, The kid kindly allowed me to ride his bike and I absolutely loved it! Growing up in 70's, the design of the bike hearkens to 70's industrial design, reminds my very first car - Mark I VW Golf. Previous owner didn't ride the bike for several years. I just drained the tank, filled with fresh gas, put new battery, replaced clutch cable (managed to brake it the day I received the bike), replaced tiny cheap aftermarket mirrors with ones from BMW F800 and took for first ride. I have another 3 cylinder machine  - 2013 Triumph Tiger 800, but these 2 bikes couldn't be any more different! Tiger always wants to misbehave, and K75 is steady and reserved, incredibly stable. Love the exhaust tone, nothing artificial or pretentious. I am in the steep curve of learning - reading about maintenance and going thourh wealth of information on this site. Everything seems to working, except I don't have working brake light and I can't figure out the reason so far.(http://)

Welcome to life:)  the k75 is probably the smoothest bike ever made.

That clutch cable broke because of wear. It's not uncommon. When you install a new one, make sure to grease the barrel end of the cable and barrel to prevent rapid wear. The part that's in the lever.  They break fast if you dont do this.
