Title: 1985 K100RS valve cover gasket
Post by: Lawrence on December 28, 2011, 11:31:07 AM
Contemplating checking the clearances on the valves, is it typically possible to reuse the cover gasket, or should I have a new one at hand when I check the valves?
TIA

No problem to reuse the gasket, if the rubber don`t have become to stiff.
On the oldest one of my bikes I`ve changed it one time during 25 years.

Apply a small amount of sealant at the joint where the timing cover and head meets,
and at the camshaft cutout in the rear end.

Can't say as I recall who made the statement but...." as sure as you have a part on hand you most likely won't need it."  "cause when you don't...... you will".
