Anyone has any idea about why on my 90 K75S the shifting to second gear is clunky on higher rpm's than on lower rpm's? :dunno
It shifts very smooth on low rpm's like it is supposed to, but when I bring the speed/rpm up on the first gear and try to shift to second it does not engage smoothly as suppose to, but all other gears goes in smooth as silk in any rpm, also sometimes got some (false) neutrals in between 4-5 either up or down and 4-3 (mostly down).
Took to the mechanic and ended up with a new clutch because of burns on the plate and there was less than half on the clutch shoes, but the problem is not solved.

One thing you can't do with a brick is be half hearted about the geart shifts, don't be too gentle with them. If you try to be gentle with the shifts you will find more neutrals than gears. These boxes will clunk and grind on the shifts but you won't do any damage to them by being very positive about the shifts.
I have a gearbox in my K100 that has more than 300.000km on it and the teeth and dogs are still in exceptional condition despite all the ckunky changes over the years.
When shifting down I preload the lever with a bit of foot tension before I pull the clutch and that makes for far better downshifting for me and on the up shift be very positive about it. You won't hurt them by doing that.

What he said. The boxes, even at their best, tend to be klunky. Synthetic oil seemed to smooth mine out noticeably.

Yes! It is the nacimiento road overlooking hwy1, though never been on that road beside the overlook, try once and the road seemed too narrow and dangerous so I bailed.
I lubed the spline maybe one year ago or less.

I think I am now using 75/140 valvoline gear oil in the tranny, should I replace to your suggested oils?

Johnny's referring to the transmission input splines. Missing downshifts/getting false neutrals when downshifting in the upper gears is a classic symptom of dry splines.
You should be OK with the Valvoline 75/140 stuff. Trying some moly additive won't hurt.
K bikes should be shifted assertively - though not hammered on.
That gear oil under the FD splines means your pinion seal is leaking. An indy wrench should charge you about $150 or so to fix it. Be sure to keep the FD gear oil topped off.

I plan to try some Redline Anti-shock stuff. Nice high film strength, with exceptional life, and normal viscosity.
BMW's of all types (car and bike) like firm, and sure shifts. Not hard, but firm.

Went for a ride shifting with confidence and it seemed OK!
Now the FD oil does not seem to be leaking at moment, because it is not low since last change.
I will keep my eyes on it for any leaks, and will also check to see if the garage did the lubing on the transmission spline when they did the clutch.
Thanks for all the info, it gives me more confidence on my rides.

Is clutch spline same as (transmission imput spline)?
Because when the mechanics replaced the clutch clutch spline was lubed.

Yep. I can't imagine any competent wrench not lubing the splines when working on the clutch.
