We get real winter here in Taos so sad to say, the Chile Red K75 is sitting in the corner of the shop with only my Yammy XT350 to keep her company, prolly at least until March.
BUT - as I said, there is one thing that is as fun as motorsickles, and that is SKIING! Particularly untracked powder, wayyyyy up some valley where few people go in the winter.

I do this about every other day on average. I'll post more on this subject if anyone is interested.
Sure look forward to gettin' back on th' Brick though. Maybe a trip to AZ in late March :2thumbup:

I'm definitely with you on this one! Our mountains aren't as big as yours and this winter we do not have that much snow (yet). But I've only two miles to the nearest slopes and I love skiing!
-
Never skied in my life but I do ride all year round.

We RARELY get decent powder where I'm from. Have to travel to Whistler, Utah, Tahoe or Colorado to find decent snow. It wasn't until I started touring that I realized Utah was good for anything but skiing.
I did some poking around and it seems as though Taos finally gave in to the shredders. That sucks but I suppose it's an economic reality.

Bwaaaahaahhaaahaa!!!!
Yeah, we gotts knuckledraggers around here now, alright. But most of 'em stay away from the steeps and the trees. The few good riders we have are just as welcome to ski what we ski. Hardly see any in the backcountry, save for the occasional splitboarder. Again, people like that tend to know what they're doing out there, so they're ok in my book too.
Oh, but the yahoos out in th' flatts - eesh. I wish I had me that snowplow-meatgrinder :grimreaper:

:2thumbup:, TaosBrick, a man after my own heart! I've been shredding the eastern slopes for 30 years now. My stamina isn't what it used to be but I did some tele instructing back in the day and can still manage to look good for a few runs. Last year I wasn't motivated at all, but I'm hoping for more natural snow this year and viewing your picture is further motivation. I skied the Rockies once at Squaw Valley. If nothing else, it will help take my mind off riding...

Sometimes you just gotta do something Stoopid, especially for Christmas.

Couldn't let the K feel left out, so I at least mixed some Sta-Bil into Chile Red's tank and let her idle for awhile.

Well Even though it hasn't snowed in the southern Rockies for over three weeks now, we went on a hut trip anyway.
Good Times! Good drinkin' eatin' and pickin' - Sorry Johnny, no Burgers. The Skiing was adequate, but a foot or more of fresh woulda made it Awesome! This place is pretty much exactly between Telluride and Silverton.
Hauling stuff the three mile, 1,600 vert up to 11,7050' - Took me about three and a half hours, in the summertime you can drive up there in about 20 minutes.

The "hut" - more like a three story house.

Thanks conybeare! That was a fun day. Right around Xmas while my brother was visiting, he took the pic with his super-good Canon Rebel EOS.
Well, all that snow has been gone for a month or more, so it's back to MotoBricking as usual. Still plenty left for skiing up in the High Country though. I'll be taking the dogz up there too once the corn cycle starts happenin' for real. Then it will be tales of Men, Dogs and Backcountry Skiing - Yeeeaahh!!
