Post by: GoldCoastBear48 on July 29, 2022, 05:22:55 PM
Barn Find !!
2 - K 75s
1 -  F650 Strata

1) K 75,  1994 ( blt 2/94 ), second is a parts bike only , 93.  '94 was bought as a bare model, have acquired necessary plastic to convert into RT model.  Parts bike is just that,  bought for additional parts for the 94 as needed.  '94 includes:  full plastic fairing, two sets of hard cases misc additional parts and extra seat ( corbin ).
2 )  F650 is a '97, comes with two windshields ( tall - short ), helmet box with rack
Both 94 and 97 have been garage kept, fluids removed,  93 is under wraps, protected but outside
Selling as package, which includes riding gear, misc parts for both bikes,  many issues of BMW, Rider magazines, repair manuals for both bikes, clear title on 94 and 97.  93 comes with bill of sale.
Selling price for entire package is $2500, offers considered
Bikes are not currently ridable, as they will need some TLC tuning prior to riding.  A good wrencher or favorite mechanic / friend should make this a weekend project.
I live in San Antonio, will likely need trailer for three or large van
Enclosing three photos, but more avail on request and further details as well.  Best contact is  e mail    txkubljr@aol.com ,  please mark subject  White Owl.  Thanks

K1300S ,,
My apologizes,  in typing out the ad I probably hit the  ' s ' in error,  as I stated in the body of the narrative, I did state  the ' 94 had been bought as   ' bare model, with intent to convert into an RT '.
In order to remove confusion and bring about the correct verbiage,  I shall edit the original post
Thank you for making notice of this grammatical error.
The parts bike is a K75 model,  just which model I have no idea.

I am amazed at how hard it is to sell these big BMW bikes!
Maybe my experience is only local, CA, but i see these things go stale on Craig’s list etc at ridiculously low prices. There’s a lot of machine in a K-Bike, it is a useful bike, has support with vendors and HERE! They do take owner wenching and TLC, so likely the ads are evaluated in that light and passed over. Parts and tires are costly, and their age does not help either. You might want to be clear about where the bike(s) are located.
Tried to sell my running K1100RS after much work and cost. Best offer was $2,000. Screw that!

I'm not.  They're not really classic like the old airheads, don't customize well like Harleys, don't have the speed and sex appeal of crotch rockets, they're old enough to need work and BMW parts are expensive, un-doing previous owners "improvements" can get complicated, and folks used to modern BMW's might not realize the older ones were more user friendly. Seems most folks shopping for bikes are looking something to enhance their image rather than versatility.

The easiest way to find out what model a K bike came from the factory as is to enter the last seven digits of the VIN at RealOEM. It will also tell you the build month and year.

For example, the last seven digits of the VIN for my K1100LT are 0300789:

Good points all! I think the 1st time someone hears about “spline lube” it can sound scary if they aren’t able Mx.

And Frankenduck:  Thanks for that cool link!  I’m going to try it on mine and maybe other vehicles.

In the midwest a non-running K is worth, at most, 800.  And it will take time to find a buyer.

I have a friend with 16 K bikes.  He started buying them when they looked cheap.  Then they got cheaper.  And cheaper.

50-500 will buy anyone with patience an intact but non-running K around here. And that makes sense when a clean runner can be had for 1800.

A typical running K tops out at $2000 today in my part of the world.  If the bike is really low miles and has absolutely no cosmetic issues it might be worth as much as $2500.

If you are in no hurry and have a pristine example you might find an inexperienced buyer who might accept a price as high as $2750.

Bricks are not hot sellers...  and that makes me very happy.

I watch WA and OR Craig's List occasionally. Around here K prices have been going UP over the last year. CA occasionally. I haven't seen a runner advertised for less than $3K.

Although I just looked in SF and found this funky S for $2,500

One should always start with a low-ball offer on non-runners though.

Check Facebook. My personal opinion is that CL has become an overpriced legacy backwater, like eBay.
