Title: K100 starter motor seal dimensions?
Post by: zdj355 on December 05, 2021, 01:31:50 AM
Searched high and low and I'm a bit surprised I couldn't find an answer.
Does anyone know the dimensions for the seal in the front of the starter motor (not o ring)?
Measuring my broken one I got 25x15x5 or 24x15x5. Are either correct?

My first guess would be for a 25mm o.d.  They are probably cheap enough that you could get one of each size to see which one fit best.  I would think that one would be too loose or too tight.

You could take the front housing of the starter to the bearing dealer to check the size.  That's what I would do.

Exactly this topic was discussed in the K100 forum a couple of weeks ago. Dai's advice in this post (https://www.k100-forum.com/t17535-starter-motor-oil-seal-source#202289) seems to be the way to go. Tell us about your Brick—the mileage on the odometer, the general appearance of its neglected state and what you know about its history.

No bearing shops nearby. I'll buy the 25 and report back so the info is out there. Thanks!
