I remember when the first bricks were in the dealers in VA, but is was 04 before I bought one... and was hooked. Ive never ridden any other beemers other than that 1988 K75S with the faring removed and the proper nekkid parts installed, and now the 1987 unmolested K75S I recently purchased. But I am a HUGE fan of the water 3 cyl flying brick.

Welcome! BMW hit a high water mark with the 750 K's. Touring, sport, commuting, easy to live with, bulletproof and enough idiosyncrasies to keep it interesting. Had mine since '86 and still haven't seen that combination in anything else.

Hey DanPete! :welcome The K75's sure are great bikes. I had the privilege of riding one last year, and was hooked since then on K bikes. I spend about a year looking for a K75 before I settled for a very nice K100 that I purchased this past April. The K75 is definitely on my list of next moto to purchase.

Welcome DanPete. I was a little kid in the 80s and was instantly in awe of my uncle’s K100. 20 years later when I was ready for a bike I bought my first brick, a 92 k75s. Going on 20 years later I’m still only riding bricks… nothing else ‘fits’ my liking.

After doing lengthy research, I bought a used K75S 14 years ago and am still loving it. The other day a Honda rider I know was musing about replacing his ride and asked me what I would get if I had to replace my bike for some reason, I replied "the same thing I have now".

I stumbled upon this site a year or so back, looking for some repair guidance. It's been a treasure trove of experiences!
I bought my K75 without really knowing what I was getting, 25 years ago, in Germany. I just thought "I want a Beemer". My bike was seven years old at the time, appeared to be well maintained, and he wanted 10,000 Deutschmarks which I think was about $7,000.00 or so. After touring around Europe I had it shipped home.
I have not regretted the purchase a single day! I've got about 80,000 km on it now. I think I just got very lucky.

I've been lurking on the inter webs about K's since I bought that 88 back in 04... but even more this last year as I was looking for another brick. I've read a lot of the Duck's stuff, and even traded a few e-mails. But nice to have an easy reference. Great stuff.
I'm very new to this forum stuff. joined k100 first, this, and bmw sport rider. Learning as I go!

If you are in the market for a 75S, at the moment, I am going to sell this '87. I was glad the '88 had been converted to a nekkid at the time... I thought fairings were for old men to hide behind! Some how, I got old, and now the S fairing is too small! I found a K75C with a Prichler fairing on it I want, and the '87 will fund that!

I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale, but have since moved a bit more inland to the small suburban town of Coral Springs. Crime is definitely still the same (or debatably worse) but I live in the suburbs, which doesn't experience the same amount of crime as Miami-Dade county. I appreciate the offer on the K75S, but the ole stable has no room for more motos at the moment, although some may beg to differ :laughing1:. I'll probably end up selling my Shadow before I buy another bike. Good luck with the sale though, I went ahead and googled what the Prichler fairing looks like, looks great! Hope you enjoy it!

On to a serious note; There are probably a few areas in FL about as bad as Homestead / FL City, but I've been blessed not to have had to be there. I'm even sure that there are neighborhoods in Miami worse... but Ive been through so rough ones, and even those were not worse. Its funny to talk with folks that call themselves from Homestead... they will say "well, sure the crime is a bit bad, but that everywhere ya could live." UGH, no. No, its not!
I worked in West Palm several years ago, and parked the RV at a campground that was mostly filled with folks that could not afford anywhere else. The "nice" campgrounds were made for the rich snow birds.
But no bad crime, at least. Loved the area, just way too many people.

Trust me, if my HOA didn't believe having motorcycles on my yard under a cover was an eyesore, I would have my yard filled with em'! As a matter of fact, I would be on my way to pick up your K75S! :laughing1:

You're totally right about there being way too many people! Don't get me wrong, South Florida is very nice, I grew up here, but I don't think I'll be sticking around for much longer. It seems that as every year goes by, every suburb, city, town, you name it, gets filled with newcomers. And the traffic is more unbearable on the daily. There aren't many nice roads in South Florida to thoroughly enjoy a motorcycle, and sitting in traffic at every light is not what I imagine when I want to go for a nice ride, especially in this heat. One of the reasons that I moved more inland was because the traffic in Ft. Lauderdale is getting as bad as Miami, and Miami traffic is a different breed of a beast. With that said though, as soon as I finish my bachelors of engineering in 2023, I will most definitely be looking to move further north, whether further up-state or a different state altogether. I really enjoy riding, but the lack of nice windy roads and excessive traffic really kills the enjoyment.
