Title: Fuel Lines

I'm replacing the o-ring of the fuel sender unit.  The tank fuel lines are still holding fuel, but probably the original lines and the rubber covers are cracked.  What kind of fuel line are needed, I'm guessing they are generic and can be sourced locally (?)

I can't remember the SAE spec number, but in the tank you need submersible fuel injection line, external lines are regular fuel injection fuel lines.  8mm or 5/16"

Any hose that is inside the tank should be rated for immersion. In the US/Canada, the rating is SAE30R10. This is a submersible hose.
30R9 is fuel injector hose that can be used elsewhere but is not submersible and should not be used inside the tank.

Thanks for the replies.  I should've been more specific, I'm replacing the outside fuel lines and thanks for that info. I also appreciate the info on the submersible hose as that might be a need in the future.

When you buy a fuel filter it may come with a couple short pieces of fuel line to install it.  Don't use them, they are not rated for submersion.  Save the ones that are already there if they haven't turned to black goo or become rock hard.

TMG, just to clarify your comment above, that only applies to the NAPA 3032(or any non OEM filter for that mater)
It's been so long since I actually purchased a fuel filter from BMW, I can't remember if the OEM filter would come with any small pieces of hose like the NAPA one does.
