I've already learned a lot about this bike from this site. I've had other bikes in the past, so I am experienced and have some mechanical knowledge. Bike has 215k miles on it. I am the third owner and it's been in the family for years. Been sitting for the last 8 years, but we've got it running and now going through all the parts R&R.

Thanks for posting the photos. Have you checked the last seven digits at realoem (https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select?product=M&archive=1) to verify exactly what you have?. It looks like your moto has an OEM C-style handlebar, a later model rear brake cylinder reservoir, an aftermarket exhaust and a modified air intake. Were those modifications on the moto when you bought it?

Wow, that's some serious miles on that beast, though not unheard of with these bikes. Great that you got it running and want to keep spinning the odometer!
