I'm smitten by Moto Guzzi's. Everything about them (Especially the late Californias) seems to be the perfect combination of all that is good about an BMW Airhead, A K bike (EFI), a Touring Harley, A Ducati, and a John Deere tractor.
Its the first bike that has seriously made me consider swapping for my K75. The K bike is almost too nice. Too Smooth, too quiet, too little maintenance. I need something to fidget with.

I'll be having lunch tomorrow at the burger cafe adjacent to the second largest Guzzi Dealer in the USA. Here's a 98 California with 78k miles for under $3k. Paypal me the funds for the bike and I'll ride it to ya ;D

If you haven't read it, here's a good book for those who lust after Guzzi's. The author describes her experience being drawn into the cult of Guzzi.
http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Vehicle-What-About-Motorcycles/dp/0393318095/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322880561&sr=1-1 (http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Vehicle-What-About-Motorcycles/dp/0393318095/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322880561&sr=1-1).
She's a talented writer but drifts from talking about important life-changing stuff like bikes to dumb stuff like relationships. She also recently wrote a book about John Ryan, the ultimate long distance rider. Haven't read that one myself.

Now we know what an Amish motorcycle would look like. :hehehe

If they want to come to the USA, advise them to fly into Mexico and cross the border near Brownsville, TX. That motorcycle will blend in nicely with the other two and 4-wheeled vehicles headed north. :yow

I also have Guzzi enthusiasm in me. In my younger days I have restored 1972 V7 Sport and a 1973 Elderado I will try to post picks after I scan them to digital file.
-
I too like Guzzi's. I've never owned one but I have ridden a Centauro and a Quota. The Centauro reminded me of a '68 Camaro. There's a guy at work here w/ a V1 Sport (or something like that). It is prolly the coolest bike in the parking lot IMO.
Well, except when I ride the RS, of course.

There is a simpler answer. Pull a plug on the K and crimp the electrodes together, then loosen the clamp holding the muffler to the headers. Now you K is neither smooth nor quiet, and you can post your problems on a forum and get endless suggestions about how screw it up even more :yes

Going to put a bid on this. Figure it could make an interesting project. I'll make a mild cafe-type standard out of it.

Interesting that the Guzzi is fueled by natural gas.
Residing in the Saudi Arabia of natural gas drilling, tempting to convert a K bike someday.

One the mechanics at work has a garage full of bikes, Goldwing, multiple HD's, Honda's. His daily rider is a old Guzzi.

Hmm... I would have to modify it with some actual handlebars instead of strap-ons, and figure out some sort of luggage.
-
Nice! I'm sure you'll have that ship shape in no time. :2thumbup:

Awesome score!
You'll need to update your .sig

Didn't buy it. Yet... Its really tempting. Although I would probably have to sell the K75.

Didn't win the V65. Went for 4675
Oh, I thought, for some reason, that 4675 was the item # for the new ride. :loco: :hehehe That was the price of the one you lost...not myself today.

Same here. Oh well.
It's just my opinion but probably not worth selling your K75.

That's what I am thinking as well. I don't have a reason or a place to have two bikes. If I get a second bike, I am thinking some kinda funky, old weekend bike. Funky old guzzi, or maybe an Ironhead Sportster. Ironhead would be pretty fun, and I have my dad's support on that one: he's kinda wanted to own a harley at some point, and we could split it.
If I did buy something that would be a potential replacement for the BMW, I would keep both, fix up one a bit (to increase value) and then sell one. That way I decide after an extended test ride. Possibly buy in the winter, sell in the summer.
For now, I will keep the K75. It is worth more to me than I would sell it for. And it has sentimental value. Its the first really nice vehicle I have owned. All sorts of good memories on it as well.

I have the same, "problem". My K75 is the first decent bike I've owned. I've had it a long time, lots of miles and lots of good times. I doubt I'll replace it. It will probably be my "touring" bike for the foreseeable future. Once I get this Wagoneer project closer to complete, I may spring for another K75RT, make one nice RT and turn the other one into a K75GS. Something "cafe" styled (like the Guzzi) would be cool too.

I've owned a BMW K100 for years now and just this spring, saw a "deal" on a Moto Guzzi that I just couldn't pass up. Bought the bike in March and had it road worthy by mid-April. It's a 2011 V7 Racer that was an insurance writeoff (pictured below as it sat in the insurance recovery center yard):

It's a really cool bike and I'm very happy with the way it's turned out.
Compliments the BMW because they serve differnt purposes -- BMW for long distance touring, the Moto Guzzi for commuting.

Definitely works well with the RT and the Guzzi. I have a Naked K75, which is really a jack of all trades bike. I can do long distance touring, tear up the hills, and ride it to work or school. Its got luggage, but isn't too heavy.
I kinda want to get a sportster and make something like this: (http://www.sporty-ironheads.com/ironhead_1970/images-hd0068/new_tirehdi3-468x321)

Can't have both? :deal:

I kept my K. The wife's van doesn't really need to be in the garage. I'm trying to reenact the battle of Stalingrad
