After removing and cleaning my starter it worked pretty much flawlessly until today. So now I plan to just replace it. Any advice on which brand I should choose?
-
I got a used on from beemerboneyard.com. Cheap and works fine.
-
Nippon Denso Co.
-
Were the brushes replaced as part of the refurbishment? If not, try new brushes first before a new starter.
-
Thanks all, brushes were not replaced when I cleaned the starter.

Cheaper than a used starter:

Thanks Volador, thought so. If the brushes don’t do it, I’ll pony up.

Chicom Denso only $102.02 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Starter-BMW-K100RS-83-92-K100RT-83-89-K1100LT-90-99-K1100RS-90-96/133278662718?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225074%26meid%3Dae952e1fdb254990be0695060b22f537%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D2%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D372744792656%26itm%3D133278662718%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithBBEV2bDemotion%26brand%3DDB+Electrical&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851)

Bought the EME starter rebuild kit and finally had time to work through it last weekend. Starting seems on point now. Will only know after starts and starts of course but appreciate the pointers to the rebuild kit.

Thanks for the update, Texer. 112350

It was more “immersive “ this time, different from my cleaning activity where I followed online directions since I forgot to take pics before disassembly. Springs, brushes, all over the place. So I really had to learn how the starter goes together and fastens correctly. That was all good though, because of knowing it now. Also glad for the rebuild kit because the original o ring was not sealing and an oil wash had begun..
