If that's the one in Chicago, the response to my questions about maintenance records and spline condition was "no records, bike is mint". He didn't offer to expand on anything.

Spline danger Will Robinson!
A yellow K75S is probably a '94 with hardened splines. Based on what I've seen on the six K bikes that came through my garage, 36K isn't enough to do significant damage to the splines.
Of note, to me at least, is the Fakebook listings for BMW automobiles. Since I have no interest in a BMW auto, I never looked at the used market for them. Very surprising to see that a 30 year old K bike can have a higher resale value than a 15 year old 3 series! Maybe there is a grain of truth to some of the nightmare BMW repair videos I've stumbled across on YouTube.

Do the '93 K75 have hardened splines too?

I don't know. I have just heard from sources I trust that at some time a change was made to the metallurgy of the splines. Supposedly, it's the later Monolever and the Paralever drives that got them. If that is the case, it may have started around 1989 when the first Paralevers came out.
Then again, I have seen photos of drive shafts and final drives from Monolever bikes as late as '94 that had pretty torn up splines. As for the Paralevers, my impression is that on those the problem is exploding u-joints.
I have bought five K bikes with less than 54,000 miles and one with 108,000 miles and all had good splines. None of them had any record of replacement drive shafts.
