Title: Water Oil pump seals

K75s. Water/Oil pump service. Cleaned the main body in preparation for fitting new shaft and seals. Discovered the seating areas for the seals to be corroded, chipped and slightly scratched. Is this “damage" too risky to go ahead  with seals?

It wouldn't scare me, maybe smear a thin film of silicon on before pressing in the seal but than again some say I have a high tolerance to pain.

I would say that your new seal should work fine.
The two contact areas you need to be concerned about is:
1; the part of the seal where the two ceramic faces meet. DO NOT let the 2 faces get dirty, or it can leak.
2; the surface of the shaft where the rubber boot of the seal contacts the rotating shaft.

I work with the same kind of seals on larger industrial pumps and have the same issues with installing and not having them leak.
