I am rebuilding my K75 Oil/ water pump and need to replace the shaft. What is the best way to remove the shaft from the gear? I have tried WD40 and a firm hammer hit while supporting the gear with wood on a solid surface. Appreciate suggestions.

Heat up the shaft with a heat gun or hair dryer. Soak the shaft in Liquid Wrench, Kroll, PB Blaster or another rust penetrant. WD40 isn't as effective. Wait ten or 20 minutes then go after it with a dead blow mallet with the nut or bolt fastened on the shaft, or with the hammer and a hardwood block as you did previously.
