Title: So, I have this thing and it has value
Post by: AtLarge on April 08, 2020, 09:47:45 PM
I am just not sure what it is or what the value might be.  :johnny

It's marked BMW and has a part number on it.  As best I can make out it is 1972 2 907 554 but, when I search for it I find nothing.  I looked at the parts explosions for the fairing and body parts and I can't find it there either.

It kind of looks like it belongs there but, it's also got some hand cuts in it and held on with Panduit straps.  The PO was a pretty smart guy so, I'm thinking he made his own air dam.  If so, do you think he was trying to channel the air into that area?  Is this model prone to heat problems related to the fuel rail or intake?

Maybe he was just trying to direct the heat away from his left knee and calf?  He was in Florida and I know that's why he took most of the fairings off.  I am thinking of removing it but, not sure I want to do that yet.

So, what say ye?

looks like the very rare & valuable K-air deflector

deflects the engine heat from roasting the cajones

greetings...

i takes all that heat management baffeling out of my bricks cause me thinks it holds in the heat which becomes superheated which is gonna roast you anyway...

no baffels = free flowing air = non superheated air roast...

If you have any of the other parts posted in the fiche I would be interested in buying them from you

Thanks Johnny.  Kind of what I was thinking too.  Just take it off and let it flow.

I really don't know what all I have yet as I haven't made it through all the parts that came with the bike.  I will keep you in mind though.  I do have all the body components but, the innards not sure about yet.
