Title: Fuel line

When I started up the old beemer today after a few weeks rest, gasoline squirted out of the engine. Turned out the fuel line (the one coming out of the tank and into the rail in front of the throttle body) was almost disintegrated. I replaced it (just a generic fuel line, right?) but thought I'd inquire here if there's anything non-obvious about this I need to know about? I noticed there was a similar hose right behind this one (return line?) that I guess I'll replace too with the same tubing.

I did this recently on a K1100RS.  Make sure that you use fuel line that's rated for fuel injected fuel systems.  It should say so (or not) right on the hose.  The other line is a return hose from the fuel pressure regulator.

Never thought of that, thanks! I suspect the one I got is not rated for fuel injection. I'll have the entire winter (sigh) to find a some better tubing.

One way to tell is by the price.  FI hose is quite a bit more expensive than "regular" fuel hose.

I believe that the return line has as much pressure as the outgoing (from the tank) line too.

Return line (After FPR) has almost no pressure. There is nothing to resist the flow.

Just get good EFI rated line. I bought mine from the dealer, as it is good quality, and not unreasonable.

That makes sense, I was thinking of the line coming off the other end of the fuel rail, prior to the pressure regulator.

I don't know about fuel lines, but every time I get drunk that effin' gravity efs me up!  And, don't even get me started on effin' fluid turbulence, one time I fell in the effin' river!  :-[
