Title: Question on windshield
Post by: AtLarge on March 10, 2020, 03:14:26 PM
My K1100RS has the solid black windshield in the fairing.  Not really sure I am too keen on that yet.  I have one other bike that is faired but, it's a clear National Cycle and I really like that.  The rest have nothing which I really like too.

Googling around and at MaxBMW I don't see any inserts for clear.  I did see a picture of one on the board here recently and I believe someone made it comment it was a euro setup?

Is there an OE or aftermarket version available and I am just not looking in the right places?  Part numbers or links would be appreciated.

Max is good but the World extends beyond it. Attached are photos of what you can get from the K1100 section of MotobinsUK (https://www.motobins.co.uk/).

You can inquire at MAX with this part number (https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/PartsSearch.aspx?&searchtype=undefined&parts=46631450564) if you don't want to buy from Motobins; however, Motobins is a reliable source.

I may be wrong, but the clear windscreen wasn't offered in the U.S.

If you're considering non-OEM, I can endorse Parabellum windshields. I have a tracked a 0.8 MPG increase (in the good way) on my '85 RT, after I switched from OEM to Parabellum.

It's risky to ride like that, AtLarge. Regardless, you can get one of the Motobin screens and fit it on you're moto because you have free will.

and as a big bonus, the black blocks sun and glare from the instruments and any GPS/phone you have mounted up there.  it is actually an improvement over a clear screen that is too low to look through anyway....

Understood.  New to the brick and just trying to get used to it.  I appreciate everyone's input.
