Title: Your best Ram Mount phone GPS mounting solutions K75s
Post by: Rcgreaves on November 30, 2019, 02:31:32 PM
A hidden benefit to allowing my recent college grad to store a few boxes is his method of payment: the Center Stem Mount Ram from his recently totaled R6 Yamaha.

The only K75 specific YouTube was the ugly U bolt on handlebar version.  Not my speed so to speak.  I have all winter to devise something sanitary.  The center console precludes stem mounting as on his.  I ride daily with the poor man’s cruise control active.  Reminder to self: back that screw off when loaning it to a mate.  Don’t ask!

I’m a righty and a right hand side sleeve Tig welded parallel to th arm for the Ram is what I’m scheming.  The phone looks awesome hovering above the throttle control.  I could readily TIG weld a tube sleeve to the mirror support arm and press the rubber sleeve home.  Ideas?  Is the mirror arm steel or aluminum?  I have a broken one in a drawer.

Another location would be a bracket anchored to the handle bar mount block.  Tried this last summer but my dimensions were off.  Anyway I like the idea of not reaching to the center every time I want to skip a song etc.

It’s miserable in Wisco cheese and Badgers land and my trusty ceramic heater has been commandeered by mom today.  What’s your plug and play 2+ garage heater solution?  No kerosene or oil for me thanks.

If you need a magnet, I can send you one priority mail—in the spirit of the holiday season. :-)

A mate K100RS used one of the "U" clamp ones and went through the blank switch hole on his dash pad. Another mate is currently trying to attach his to a K1000LT using one of my old mirror arms as an attachment point. And I have attached a GPS using an old GoCruise GPS mount to my 75s.
Regards Martin.

Wait until the temperature is ≥5ºF, put two fired-up ancient Jon-e handwarmers in a kidney warmer belt, don my Carhartt Yukon coveralls, balaclava, and toque, grab a thermos of hot Irish tea, and plunge right in. :-) The warmers burn a couple of tablespoons of Naphtha or Coleman fuel in six hours.

I tweaked mlytle's idea, and used rivnuts/5mm panhead hex's to attach. Will eventually fab up a curved extension arm to bring the headunit down lower..as is, there's only obstruction of low fuel/choke lights. Easy to get to, occasional glare, and no blurring. Anything mirror mounted just seems to eventually fail in my world ;)

Thanks all for these replies.  The Ram mount comes with a stretchable attach gadget that works well...sometimes a hassle but better than having a cell phone tumble to the pavement.  I’ll heed Natalie as observation about obstructed view and light up the dash when I create the mount tube attachment

clearance to see gauges is why mine is mounted on a little extension.  it also clears all switches.

the raam mount with the stretchy rubber piece is what i have.  have one for each bike.  they work great.

I like how this came out.  Did the fabrication and welding tonight.  By mounting to the base of the mirror the phone is completely clear of the instrument line of sight.

Magnet pic is for the entertainment of Laitch.

I loves me Aeroflow screen...actually,  Santa Johnny equipped me with a new LED lamp kit- that’s next,  then perhaps a headlight upgrade. Tubing is aircraft grade chromoly steel.
