Hi,
So... I've had the header off, and now when I've assembled it I can't turn the engine. I can turn the cams and crankshaft, but as soon as I mount the chain it's stuck after half a turn. What obvious thing have I've missed?

Exactly what type of work was done that needed removal of the header? Are you referring to the exhaust manifold, or the cylinder head?

Cylinder head. I replaced the head gasket.

From where I sit here in my chair, it sounds like your physical crankshaft/camshaft timing is not correct.

As Scott_ indicates, installation of the camshafts without a loads on their cams, camshaft sprocket alignment and agreement of camshaft sprocket alignment with crankshaft alignment are critical. At which fitting are you rotating the crankshaft? With which tool are you rotating it? In which direction are you rotating it? Are the spark plugs installed?

Thanks guys. Yeah, I think I just have to start over.

At the ignition rotor flange retaining bolt with an allen key, anticlockwise. Plugs out.
