Winter is near and I want to keep riding as long as I can. I aim to fit heated grips to my 1985 K100RS to keep my mitts from freezing. I have a vague recollection that there is at least one glove manufacturer that makes winter gloves with insulation on the back of the hand, but not over the palm, all the better to keep your hands enjoying the warmth of the heated grips. Anyone know what gloves these might be? Any recommendations for good winter riding gloves? TIA

Not a direct answer but I've got both medium and thick insulated gloves and both work well with heated grips so it's probably not as much of an issue as you think.

this is what i do for gloves...
i wear a pair of held gauntlet gloves (http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/gloves/street_or_racing_gauntlet/held/akira_evo_gloves.html) in all temperature and weather conditions... why... hands and feet are easily damaged so i use the good stuff...
when its too wet or too cold for my gloves i will put on rainoff overgloves (http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-gloves/waterproof-motorcycle-gloves/rain-off-gloves.htmrbing) over the helds... why... moisture and wind is the enemy... my 3 + 1 rainoffs are 100% windproof and have never leaked a drop of water...
next is heated grips with gloves or + overgloves as necessary... this will take me into the 30s...
next is gerbings electric glove liners (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/gerbings-heated-glove-liner) inside an old pair of wallered out helds... why... dosent add bulk n i getts to wear my old wallered out gloves...

I tried a pair on and should have just bought them right then. They fit ... like a glove. Get very good reviews as well. My onl;y gripe is they have BMW written all over them and I am not real excited about paying someone $145 to advertise for them.
I have some BMG gloves that were DAMN warm ... and in less than three days smelled so bad and made my hands smell so bad I couldn't take it. I have never had gloves do this before. No amount of washing and drying solved it ... they just stink.

I bought a pair when I was up in Seattle.....got lucky and got them for $110 (+/-) 'cuz the dealer had bought too many so he was blowing them out (and it was May... ;D)
They work REALLY WELL with heated grips......but they suck at manipulating a point 'n shoot with your left hand while riding.
Then again, if it's THAT damn cold that you need these gloves to ride, you probably shouldn't be taking pictures...... :P

I have these as well. I get to use them about half the season, and they work really well (although they are my first and only pair of mc winter gloves so I don't have much point of reference).

Jesus H Cheeeeerist! You guys must be in a different stratosphere. Two hunnerd fitty buck gloves? Bend over and smile. I got three pair of deer skin work gloves for eight bucks at the hardware ten years ago that's my dailies. I got a pair of flannel lined gloves for like ten. Years ago I had a pair of pigskin welding gauntlets from the hardware with some wool gloves from war surplus for liners. Wonder what happened to them. Wish I could find them.
It's just gloves.

Hey Ocelot, it's OK, let them spend it if they can. We need as much money circulating as possible, if $200.00 gloves is what does it, so be it. The ones that we need to be concerned with is these Co. that are posting 6 Billion $ profits and then trying to keep from paying their taxes.

Buying gloves without trying them on first is taking a sucker's bet. Unfortunately, the local m/c shops hereabouts don't stock many. Yesterday I did find a pair of winter gloves that fit well and seem to offer decent protection in case of a tumble. They are Scorpion's Gunner model. Does anyone have any experience with them?
