Title: so how much is your k bike registration?
Post by: Scott on August 02, 2019, 09:28:14 PM
I was just wondering about the different costs for old/oldish motorbike's registration fees, if you care to share.  I'm in Southern California and I just paid my 1993 k75 and it was $126.00 US, that seems to be the bottom price.  My 1977 xt500, IIRC, was about the same.  Not bad considering i guess, but then again I'm used to the Ca DMV using driving fees as new taxes.  I'm also wondering what registration costs for motos around the world and in Europe.  Size (CC's) is of no consequence here either, just the model year it seems. Newer equals more money, no inspections needed here either, just $.  cheers, scott.

Registration in sunny Queensland is $502.95 but if you chop off the pillion seat and remove the rear foot pegs it is cheaper.

I got historical plates as soon as my bike turned 25 yrs old.  Onetime fee of about $30 and they're good for 50 years.  There are restrictions on driving but nobody pays attention to them.

Here in Costa Rica I pay approx $150 per year per bike for each of my bikes.  Engine size, value and age are irrelevant, it is the same for all bikes over 125 cc, I think.

$113 per year,  historic rego (>25yrs)  Victoria, Australia.

Inspection only required when registering for the first time (club that is, but I chose to get a normal roadworthy check)

Rego is $80 for 45 days,  but you must join a bike club,  $33 for Ulysses. There are cheaper clubs but I like Ulysses. If you want another 45 days,  pay another $80.

Question; how can this be monitored? Answer; it can't.

Wow, I'd cry if I had to pay some of those fees...... unless it's just an exchange rate issue.
Each of mine are only $10.00 per year. When the bikes were purchased I had to pay a one time sales "tax" of 6% of the purchase price.

What Ed said goes for Southern Ontario.  Northern Ontario is half that amount. Ontario plates and vehicle permit are purchased when the vehicle is registered with the owner for the first time (plates follow the owner, not the vehicle) and cost $92.00.

Ha don't even ask about cars.  The yearly road tax for cars is based on the value of the car - as set by the government not Blue Book or anything reasonable - I drive a 2012 VW Passat SE - my road tax for 2019 was just under $700 and if you drive a new porsche or something exotic you can expect to pay $5000+ a year for the privilege of driving on some of the worst roads in the world!

My 94 k75S is on Pa. Classic plates. One time fee of, I believe $74. That's is for as long as I own the bike. Plus, I think it is exempt from annual state inspection fee of about $30.

$502.96 Au = $341.96 US no wonder I only own one registered bike. After the age of 65 in QLD you get a concession on one vehicle. Our registration also includes compulsory third party insurance of $351.20, a traffic improvement fee of $57.30 which makes the actual registration fee $92.60. I don't know whether you have to have compulsory third party insurance in the US or Canada.

Here in California, you must maintain a minimum amount of liability insurance in order to register a vehicle.  I think it can vary wildly in cost from state to  state and even county to county within a state, your driving record to matters as well.  I don't buy any comprehensive insurance for my old bikes and my necessary liability insurance is about $45.00 US per year for the k75.  scott.

In New York it's $17.50 per bike per year.  Insurance for 3 bikes is about $300 per year.  $10 for annual inspection.  Total, $382.50.

So far, the politicians have found other ways take your money, but if they see this thread riders in New York are going to be in a world of hurt.

In the PRV:
$39 for yearly registration renewal,
$20–$40 for inspection,
Insurance depends on the naughtiness or niceness of the owner, and the make, model and year of the moto.
If the moto is 25 years or older, it can be issued an Antique plate but then it can only be used for general transportation of property or passengers except one day per week only, unless traveling to an exhibition but then it will need an Exhibition registration. :laughing4-giggles:

I just paid $20 in Pennsylvania for a one year registration.  And $105 for a year of insurance on the 1992 K75.  And I'll pay $35 in a couple weeks for the annual safety inspection.  Compared to some others I'm getting off cheap.

Maryland Historic tags, $25.50 for 2 years. By far, the most economical bike I've ever owned (tax, insurance, maintenance.)

I keep mine registered in my home state of Oregon. $78 for 2 years. No road tax, sales tax, or inspection (especially since I currently live in Virginia). I believe my insurance is around $60, but can't remember if that is every 6 months, or for a whole year (93 K1100RS)

Wisconsin is $23 for two years for regular registration. There are some other categories some of which the older bricks will fit, the price generally goes down but there may be more up front cost.

$23.00 for 2 years and no restrictions, that's a good deal.  No need to look further.

Uk - we pay by cc so over 650 is £85 for the years road tax. unless its historic 40+ years then i believe its free. only 6 more years for my brick. Also no annual inspection (mot) at 40+ so that saves another £40
