I've read several good posts on the importance of spline lubrication, as well as some how-to articles. But most only cover the 8-valve models. Still, it looks like a right royal PITA to do the entire shaft.
In any case, I will be replacing my rear tire soon, and I wondered if doing just the rear-most one would be enough. I suppose that the condition of that joint would be a good indication of whether it's worth the trouble to look at the others?
32K showing on the odometer. No problem shifting down, but a slight reluctance to shift up until fully warm.

I always to the final drive when I pull the rear wheel off to replace a tire. The rest I leave to the service interval or if I need to pull the driveshaft and/or transmission off for whatever reason, which historically has come before the service interval.

I'd say that for any monolever bike to grease them annually as the joint moves with any/all vertical movement of the final drive. Secondly, it's my understanding that the material that BMW used to make the splines is not quite as hard as what they used in the 16v splines. Don't get me wrong, they are good, but BMW made them better when they built the 16v ones.
As far as the paralever bikes go, the only spline that moves in/out when riding is the middle splines between the 2 sections of shaft. The transmission end and the final drive end are fastened with a circlip so that once you "pop" on the shaft to the spline, it doesn't move again till you pull it off to remove the shaft. Don't get me wrong, the middle spline still needs lubricated, but generally only at the service recommended interval.

OK, so I ordered the Wurth SIG 3000 grease. Apparently Guarddog is no longer available.
I have some molyD powder. Would it work as well to just mix that with the grease or do I need the Honda stuff?

I made some. I’m gonna take the drive off at 1000 miles, just to see how it’s holding up. I’ve done just under 700,so far...has some more splines put on...

I have the exact same MOS2, Mo-Lube as Soggs. Works great mixing for yourself. I'm experimenting, but 15gm of Moly to 30gm of Mo-Lube seems to be working on the brick and other "test" machinery.

Depending on how the first batch get on, I will be mixing the next lot up to the consistency of semi frozen butter, (if you can imagine that). There was a very slight ‘slop’ in the prop and final drive, as the final drive splines weren’t brilliant, but my mix did take it out. I guess it depends on lubrication migration.
Next time I pull it all, I will go with the ‘mastic plug’ idea, from Chris Harris, to help this stop happening

Looks like Beemer Boneyard finally sold out their stock of Guard Dog. I'm glad I stocked up on it when I could. Now they're selling something called Enduralast 477. If anyone tries it, please report back.

My Guard Dog 525 is almost gone, I'm going to get some of this as a replacement spline lube.

Oh so there are more spline lube possibilities. . . I've been looking everywhere and just splurged on some Honda Moly 60 that I found somewhere on the interwebs. It was my understanding that that was the gold standard.

I thought i was going splineless because I have slop or play in my driveline. However, the splines look good in the final drive anyway.

gd525 is still being made... its 30% moly though (https://www.tsmoly.com/grease-c-2.html) and the maker has a 70% moly paste too... didnt know if yous knews that...
