My sister found this and sent it to me this morning.  It is my 1978 R 100 RS, sitting on the bike with my young nephew Michael - had to be around 1980 or 81

does it have stickers on the windscreen... just trying to establish a timeline for this unusual phenomenon...

Yep - I'm sure I put the BMWMOA circular emblem on the windshield, just like the one on my K.
