Title: What will you find?
Post by: stokester on May 28, 2019, 07:48:09 PM
My current motobrick stable consists of a '94 Dakar Yellow K75S and a '93 Silk Blau K75s, both purchased used.

During maintenance I've found things missing on both bikes.

My mid-life refurbishment of the '93 revealed the lack of a brake pedal return spring while my very low mileage '94 revealed something else.  Today I went to take the '94 for the annual inspection and had it fired up on the parking pad only to see a growing puddle beneath the engine.  A quick investigation revealed a leak from the area of the fuel pressure regulator.  I removed the air box to find the plug missing from the regulator access port/adjuster, so I have been riding for the last two thousand mile with a source of unfiltered and unregulated air.  The fuel leak was from the pump connection and I replaced the line from the FPR to the rail and used new Oetiker clamps on both the FPR connections.

The last service of this bike was at a BMW dealership and it demonstrates the need for all of us to be knowledgeable motobrick operators.
