I have a little bit of oil smoke on occasion if the bike has been parked for a while. This seems to be normal for all BMW bikes that have valves on the low side when on the sidestand. Not concerned about that.
When that happens, I am seeing some of it come out where the exhaust collector is bolted to the engine.
I have no running problems whatsoever, and it isn't loud, so if it is an exhaust leak, it is a minor one.
So, is this something I should muck with? If so, how? Try to tighten bolts, replace gaskets?

They ALL do that! =-}
Park on the center stand or hold the bike upright (or even tilted to the right) after you turn off the engine to allow the oil to drain back to the sump before putting it on the side stand.

To check for leaks I use a vacuum cleaner set to blow. You can also use a compressor but drop the pressure down. Do this on a cold engine. Place a rag around the nozzle stick it in the exhaust outlet, there is no need for a tight seal. Spray all points that could possibly leak with a mixture of detergent & water out of a spray bottle. Any leaks will show as bubbles.
