Title: New Brick Owner
Post by: talonstrife@gmail.com on April 19, 2019, 02:24:33 AM
Long time sport bike and cafe rider(fun, but spend more than an hour on one and you won't be able to sit for a week). Wanted something I could put some miles on that didn't corner like a dump truck.  I decided a K bike was the way to go. Finally found a good deal on one.

Welcome!  Nice looking bike in a nice color with almost all the stuff* you need for serious horizon chasing.

*1100LT with Russell seat, crash bars, luggage(did you get liners?) and a tank bag.  Not sure if they're there, but LED driving lights and a GPS should be all you need.

Welcome and thanks for the pics! If your luggage doesn't have liners, RKA makes rugged ones that fit well.

1100LT with Russell seat . . .
Don't Russell seats have buttockular wings? :giggles

Now that you mention it, that seat may be a Corbin or a Russel for some vegan riders.

.....something I could put some miles on that didn't corner like a dump truck.....

That, along with reliability and versatility, seems to be the essence of old K bikes.   Nice find!

It does seem very well taken care of. It's very clean everywhere. It came with the BMW luggage liners, the original owners manual, the cool folding key, and even the original tool kit is still intact.
The seat is a Corbin. The only issues are the radio and the ABS.

The only issues are the radio and the ABS.

Let me guess. The radio only gets hair metal from the 90s.

Nice looking bike and welcome to the club.

You've come to the right place for information on diagnosis and maintenance and I encourage you to search for threads about your concerns.  There are a number of them about ABS and how to diagnose problems.

That'd be better than what's on the radio nowadays. The bike came with two radios in a cardboard box. One is there original, that doesn't work. The other, the previous owner bought from eBay, but found it impossible to find the unlock code for it.
