Title: Extra plug sockets
Post by: Soggz on April 17, 2019, 02:21:27 AM
Hi.
So I’ve done all the important stuff on my k75c.
New splines, z pipes, hoses and tyres,etc...
But I’m wondering...
What’s all the extra plug sockets for in the large relay box under the seat?
I’m guessing after market ancillaries, but what? Extra lights? Are they for heated grips, which I don’t have? Can they be converted to USB ports or something?
Also, what would you plug into the little plug socket on the coil cover?

Thanks in advance.

Anything else plug into it other than underpants?

A 12V blender can come in handy for roadside blender drinks, although the serious party people power their blenders with a weed eater motor.

I was hoping you were going to say a toaster. What’s a weed eater?

The white 4-pin is alarm/anti-theft connector, switched and continuous power and ground. Fuses #5 and #7
You can get the THE K-Cable (https://www.tills.de/product-74.html) to wire in your accessories.

The black plug is special connector for police vehicles accessories siren, auxillary lights, etc... or the like

Thanks mate. So I can run extra lights from it. Is there some sort of wire I can plug in somewhere for a USB socket?

You can get this for a USB cable that plugs into the standard BMW accessory socket

The Connector for Special Equipment (black shroud) has switched 12V and ground that could supply some accessories, however it is probably not enough current to drive extra DRLs.  You'd be advised to install an auxillary fuse box or find a way to use Fuse #4.  Remember that Fuse #4 is connected directly to the battery and will have unswitched 12V, which is probably not a great idea to attach to DRLs.

As for USB, that same connector can probably supply enough current to drive a USB charging port.

before putting a lot of effort into that project, suggest testing the device in the location and at the viewing angle  in direct sunlight.  most of those things are unreadable outside.  they can also heat up in the sun on a hot tank and shut down.
