Title: K75 shocks
Post by: Gru on December 27, 2018, 09:58:49 PM
Interesting article in latest Motorcycle classics magazine. Comparing Hyperpro 360, Ikon 3610, and YSS MZ366. Of course, they all preform well, so which one is best, you decide! Come on let’s get a winner, I don’t want to spend big money and be dissatisfied. Any one tried these shock’s.

Yikes!

Ikon = Koni by a different manufacturer and were known as good replacement shocks in their time.

Send Ted Porter a note at http://www.beemershop.com (http://www.beemershop.com) .  He handles all the big names and I bought a YSS from him for my K75S, seems to be a quality unit and improved the ride over an old Progressive.

interesting that a popular damper was left out of the test..the progressive 465
https://www.progressivesuspension.com/product/1426/465-series-shock

i have the 465 on one of my K75S's, a FOX DA on the other K75S and a YSS from Ted on a K1100RS.  they are all good.

reality is most folks are replacing long ago blown out stock dampers with something new.  ANYTHING will ride better!

I agree with Marshall, that any shock of modern build is lightyears better than stock.
The K75S has a YSS-MZ366, and I really don't notice it much, which is a great thing! It did take a long time to dial in, as there's a broad range for the spring and damping clicks (165lbs mostly 1-up riding). It adjusts for 2-up fairly fast, and a Sharpie mark on the threads get's it close enough to ride. A new shock will be a fantastic $200-300 upgrade.
* If I was to buy again, it'd be for the slightly shorter version, not the OEM length.

Over the past 5 years I've had four bricks.

K75S with Works Performance.  Nice.

K75RT with Works Performance.  Nice.  Presently with Fox Twin Clicker.  Very nice.

K100RS 16V with Fox Twin Clicker.  Really nice.  Not in the stable anymore.

K100RS 16V with YSS.  Not dialed in yet, but I suspect it will be as nice as the Fox.

Unfortunately, of the shocks I've used, the YSS is the only shock available new right now.  The Fox and Works Performance shocks do show up on eBay from time to time, and there are shops where they can still be rebuilt.
