I got this motorcycle for cheap to turn it into a scrambler. Has 110,000 miles and it still runs.
Downside is the sticky throttle, worn brakes, scratches and rusted bolts.
Today I checked the final drive and it look pretty bad. Still has the red BMW crap

Good luck with your build. There's some great roads to ride around JT and Idyllwild.

You should consider those splines to be at end of life. Mine looked better than those just before they stripped out.
-
I was looking around and found one on craigslist.
A shaft drive from an 85. The teeth look great. Way better than mine.
The real question does it fit on a 94 k75?

Are you considering buying only a driveshaft or are you buying a final drive with a driveshaft?

I'll have to see what the guy has. He mentioned having found more parts for the K that wasn't mentioned on his craigslist ad.
I'll see tomorrow afternoon on what he has.

What is it you need to buy right now?

Check the number of teeth. I think the 85s had fewer teeth than the later ones.

As above, count 16 or 20 and what about a little extension to keep the wife happy, look here :

I just swapped emails with a guy who has a 16t driveshaft and swingarm on eBay. It's been posted for a couple days. Sorry, I didn't copy the link, but it's easy to find. Cheers

Hi,
I have been in the very same boat, as you are very recently. Yours does look somewhat better, than mine did, although mine very pretty much toast... 16T shafts are harder to come by, 20T versions are more available. If I understand correctly, the 20T and 16T versions differ (if they are the same monolever design) only in the number of the FD end teeth, as the trans end is the same. If you can source a FD-DS combo and can live with the slightly different ratio of a K100, you could probably go down that path too. Otherwise keep your eyes open, and ebay will bring one up sooner or later. BTW there is one 16T shaft in the US in a good nick right now - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/90-BMW-K75RT-K-75-K75-RT-drive-shaft-driveshaft/312278948201?hash=item48b5469969:g:SpMAAOSwAE9b0ETi:rk:1:pf:0

That's the guy I was corresponding with by email. He seems knowledgeable about what part's hunters are looking for in splines.
Good Luck
