This is frustrating. Should be simple, but I can't figure out how to unplug this connector. Manual says to depress the tab at the left side, but there's no play to push it in past the housing. I just want to get to the battery tray on this bike I acquired.
Could not find anything in the forum via a search, so it must be obvious, but not to me.

Your moto has an L-Jetronic control, not a Motronic. There are introductory materials in the Repair Guidance section.
The plug has a hook on its left end (red oval) that is engaged with the unit. The plug disengages by pushing the latch to the right (red arrow), grasping the plug at its right end (green rectangle) then pulling outward and swiveling it on its hook like a door on a hinge. Move it far enough and you can unhook it.

This might help, i haven't tried it, but looks like good possibility. If you do, maybe report back as i would be interested in your results for the next time i need to access the battery. Cheers and good luck.

I got it! I just came back in from the garage and had figured it out. Laitch, you were spot on with your description - thanks for the help. The Clymer's manual was wrong on a few counts. The trick was depressing the metal plate to release the right end.
I will read up on the repair guidance section.
