Ok electrical boffins, as an electrician and reasonably ok on auto electrics I have an issue with the Y/Br wire from the FI relay going to the Ignition control unit. If I short this wire to ground I get the relay energising and a feed on the G/R wire back to the fuse box. This in turn gets me the feed i'm missing on the G/W wire that feeds the fuel gauge etc....
What I want to know is what relationship does that earth return have with the Ignition unit, as in, is that earth return path only available when the engine is running..?? What I have done on my special build is introduce a secondary relay with a secret switch inline that operates an outboard fuel pump as opposed to the standard in-tank pump.
I've probably answered my own question here you reckon because that sounds logical but if that is an inhibitor to cut the fuel off when say the kill switch is hit how can the pump prime the rail on starting up or is there enough pressure present ..?? Gawd knows, anyone ….??????

Right. As long as the Hall Sensor sends a signal to the ignition control unit, the ground will stay on and activate the fuel pump. With the K75, that happens when the starter button is pressed and when the engine is running after the starter button is released.

AHA.....!!!
Laitch, you know what, its been 2 years since I last messed with my build what with work and a second project bike and yes, it's all coming back to me. I think I remember finding this out by default last time so thank you kind sir for the reply. I think i'll leave in the secret switch as an added security thingymebob.
