I know this has been discussed many times, but I'm looking for opinions. The K75S has an Airhead RS fairing installed very nicely done. The K100RT is in stock condition. Both bikes are the same price, same nice condition, ready to ride. I always ride two lane roads, no interstates.Occoaasionally my wife will be a passenger.mostly I will ride solo. I'm a former R100RS owner so I know about that fairing. And no I can't get both bikes. All opinions/advice welcomed.

Never say you can't get both. Your wife doesn't really need to park her car in the garage.
-
There's just something about a triple....
-
Have a one stall garage. Three Airheads and an OIF Triumph Bonneville in there. I have another Triumph TR25W and a Honda CT90 in the shed. I know I have the disease.
-
The good news is that it isn't curable...or fatal.
-
get the S. RT's are old men's bikes.
-
You better go for the RT. If you get the 75S there is a good chance you may start "thinning the heard" do to lack of interest.
-
Having both an RT and an S parked in the garage here's a couple questions that might help:
Do you have plans for long distance touring? Get the RT
Will you be mostly riding around town, commuting? Get the S
Do you ride late into the season a lot? Wanna do a trip in late October or April? Get the RT
Will you be riding mostly on hot, sunny summer days? Get the S
Will you be in situations where you are riding in the rain or worse? Get the RT
Mostly ride divided highways? Get the RT
Mostly riding twisties? Get the S

there, you answered your own question. mostly interstate and frequent passenger = 100
2 lane roads, mostly solo=75

I have experienced a couple of K75's with that fairing, it is a sweet combination. I think someone had a cottage industry making K75RS's.

That's in Essex Center, VT. I saw that K75 in person a couple months ago. It's in good condition and appealing. The price is reasonable considering the outfit selling it. In fact, it's a reasonable price, regardless. If I wanted another bike, I'd buy it then install a 50amp charging system. That bike will haul two-up on an interstate with no problem if both the riders aren't heavyweights. You're unlikely to find one that inexpensive in decent physical condition like that one anytime soon.
-
Notice the trees. It has been there since spring. The price has been lowered ~$800 from the May price.

If I was in the market for another brick, I'd be heading to vermont. 4 bricks in the top 7, and very reasonable.

I've been watching this bike for a while now.

it's a lot more fun to ride them

That fairing looks interesting, that may be the best of both worlds. Also in my experience riding a 75 solo it is hard to scrub off the "chicken strips" but two up and they disappear.

At 1500 bucks, some savvy rider is going to fly and ride away with it pretty soon, so enjoy watching it while you can.

That's exactly what happened. He wanted me to pay for the bike in full. No deposit then pay after I saw it. I didn't feel right about doing that so my search continues.
-
You didn't drive over to take a look with cash in your pocket to make a deal? Deposits and long distance aren't a good mix. I think somebody got a good deal. Maybe I'll see it locally. Maybe they'll make a post here describing it after they've ridden it a while.
Good luck with your search. There is always another one out there.

It's a 4-5 hour drive one way. That was the issue for me.

clearly you weren't trying hard enough in the twisties when solo.....and your tire pressure was too low when two up......
