Title: Update: Item Located! WTB BMW Hard Case Lower Latch - Left Side
Post by: mdk_mdk on September 15, 2018, 10:53:53 PM
I have a set of BMW hard cases that came with the Cape Cod K75 and the left side case is missing the lower latch. I checked ebay and BeemerBoneyard but couldn't find any latches for sale.

Does anyone have a one in their parts stash?
Thanks!

Yes, that's the latch.

If you can't find one from members here, BMW still sells them new.  I just bought two new ones because for some reason, the ones that came on mine didn't have the locks on them.

I have one that doesn't use the lock.  You can have it for $10 plus shipping.

I have a brand new one with replacement rivets. $20. I have lock cylinders if you need one ( or a set ) also.

On saddlebags that have the rivet holes torn up or elongated, a small backing plate can be made of metal or plastic to make it a more secure mount. Small washers can be used also. To prevent the latch from being ripped off, small pieces of rubber can be glued to the back of the bag at the contact points. Double stick tape works also. This makes a more secure mounting of the entire bag.

The holes actually look good so I suspect someone removed the latch vs. it being torn off or wearing over time. Good idea on the backing plate, I'll see how tightly the rivits match the holes and I can make a sheet metal or plastic plate if needed.

Thanks TMG for the offer but I I'm looking for one with a lock. The rest of the latches have locks and they all match the ignition key. Any idea if I can get a lock rekeyed?

The locks are very easy to re-key to match your existing key. Do a search. If you want, you can send me your key and I will re-key it for you in the new latch.

I'm also in need of the same latch it anyone has one! My latch is worn and doesn't hold the bag on tight enough. And I can't figure out what's worn on the latch to tighten it up. It anyone here has a spare, if love to buy it.
