Title: Can not budge Tranny fill plug
Post by: TaosBob101 on September 15, 2018, 11:47:33 AM
It wont budge, 13k on bike, 95 K75S, no past service records. Did final drive last night. Dark, it needed it.Tried to unloosen tranny fill plug. 8mm allen 3/8 drive socket. May have to buy 3/8 breaker bar. Stopped, so plug not buggered.
So , sitting here frustrated.Should not be this tight!

Ideas?

Try a little bit of heat around it with a propane torch. You have to be able to change the oil.

+1 on heat, also a hammer impact wrench with an allen head socket may work.  If it does get buggered don't fret, I've ground down the tips of old easy outs to fit tight in the hole with some hammering.  One mechanic recommended star sockets.  Either way try soaking it overnight in PB Blaster or equivalent too.

+1 on the heat.  I have the same problem with my K75RT.  The torque to loosen the transmission fill plug is about 3 or 4 times what it's tightened to.  I put anti-seize on it and it does nothing.

A tiny bit of heat.....8mm allen w pipe as a cheater bar. It "snapped" loose. Anti seize on the threads. I think it was original gear oil at 13k. Maybe not....no service records
