Title: ABS sensor question
Post by: beemuker on August 08, 2018, 09:08:41 AM
Installed a used right front rotor as mine was warped. Now the trigger gap
is .006 in.  Clymer specs it at .014 - .025.  The ABS seems to be working fine, should I try to source the  .012 shim, BMW 34 51 1 458 408., now, or can I wait until I need some other parts.

I would be tempted to  let sleeping dogs snooze as long as the ABS system is happy.  I have found that removing the front sensor can damage it since they seem to corrode into the bracket.  In any event, don't buy any shims yet.  I have a bunch of them here someplace and would be happy to send you one if you need it.

Thanks. I'm in the "if it works, don't fix it ,camp too" The problem I could see would be if the ring expanded enough from heat to contact  and ruin the sensor. I would like to have the shim handy if and when I decide to install it. Would be happy to send a SASE with some $ if you could locate the shim.

Can't look today, but will before next week.  I already have a stamp and an envelope.
