Title: Acewell speedo flickering heavily
Post by: dale on August 05, 2018, 05:30:21 AM
Hi all,

The acewell md085 displays all functions on the centre stand. It has a bep connection and speed and revs are accurate while the bike is on the stand. However when riding, the acewell screen will dip off and pretty much remain off but flicker on ever now and then.

Also worth mentioning that the unit sort of flickers a touch even when only the ignition is on.

I just bought a new odyssey battery and wiring is connected with 316 bolts and washers.

Any advice on fixing the pulsing is appreciated.

Hi dale,

That certainly sounds like a bad power connection to the gauge.  There are two power inputs to that MD085 - switched 12V and constant 12V.  There is also the ground connection.  Check your connections to the power leads on the Acewell.  Make sure that they are solidly attached.

Are you grabbing power through the BEP? If so, it might or might not be contributing to your problem.  To eliminate the BEP as a potential problem source, try to temporarily obtain power from a different source.  If the flashing problem remains, it isn't caused by the BEP.  If the flashing problem disappears, the problem was the BEP.

I would also check your grounding under the tank. Make sure you have a good earth.

Thanks Skunky, I'll check all the connections again.
