Title: K75s striped set screw for ignition switch
Post by: DavidMTX on July 28, 2018, 03:43:34 PM
A ways back a posted an issue with my K75s bike that was resolved by taking the ignition switch a part and cleaning it. When I tried to take the set screw out of the switch I stripped it. Doooo.
I wanted to share how I got it out. I ended up drilling out the top part of the hole it goes in and drilled into the side of the screw a small amount. This allowed me to get surgical clips on it and turn it out.
When I put it back I put silicon on top to keep water out.

Nice job, thanks for sharing.

During my years as a Chevy mechanic, this set of LH drill bits and extractors save me more than a few times.

That set screw has a type of loctite on the threads.... heat gun/hair dryer softens it up, but it truly is a weak excuse by the factory - I mean, loctite on that little whimpy screw?
