Hi, all.
I've been dealing with a dead speedo on my first K-bike (91 K75, ex-RT), going through all the posts both here and at our very helpful neighbors down street on the internet, the K-100 forum. Did all the continuity, sensor checks (280 ohms static, and puts out voltage at speed), and much else and all checked out right up to the 3 pins at the top of the back of the speedo, which I cleaned, roughened a bit, and reinserted with a very thin coating of copper antisieze. Even checked the opened cluster with the plug inserted--all good. Continuity everywhere. But, dead speedo.----
The Karamba program was great, along some solid tutorial help from Robmack. This is a great program, and a few reports both here and down the street that it's complicated aren't all that accurate. It's pretty well a walk in the park, and told me that my odometer was working and bang on, but the speedo was dead. Robmack suggested the servo motor might be the problem. So, I took the speedo apart.---
I'm now looking at the attached pics. Anyone been inside the speedo, I mean other than the odo-wheel repair? Does it make any sense to check for anything? I see a coil, a board, etc. Is this a dead end, and I'm in for a new cluster? Or should I press on and undo the 3 bolts on the back and go "deep speedo"?---

I've done my share of fussing around inside my instrument box, and I think I've owned three of them. The good news is, they are more plentiful and cheaper than ever thanks to guys doing the cafe "racer" thing. So my advice is, find a "new" unit.

Thanks for the reply, billday. It' s good to know clusters are available. Makes me feel more relaxed about takibg the current speedo apart.

Sorry for being off topic a bit but same applies here in Poland - most of the bricks listed in the internet have 'cafe racer' badge in the advertisement or 'bobber' as if it was some fashion... Really sad.
I bet in 5 years it will be next to impossible to find a proper K bike - I mean they will go up in price.
