Hey There I just purchased a 85 k100 here this past month that has been sitting for two years. Needed a new fuel pump, which i replaced, and i got it to run but barely. It ran but rough, wouldnt idle right without the choke, then shut off and wouldnt start back up. I then followed up with replacing the spark plugs to see if it wasnt firing right. didnt fully fix it. After spraying some starter fluid in the air box i got it to run but it still feels weak and wont start without assistance from a can. I checked to injectors and they are sending fuel.
Also it smokes like a sum bichhh too.
What should i look for or try next to get running properly.?

Any neglected bike should get a new fuel filter, the spark plug wires should be verified that they are attached to the correct coil, the fuel tank's hoses should be replaced, the tank vent hose—or vent port, if it doesn't have a hose—should be checked to be sure it isn't clogged, the air box, air filter and exhaust pipe should be checked for restriction and the z-tube from the crankcase to the air box should be checked for leaks. That's where you can begin.

Also it smokes like a sum bichhh too. It is mind boggling the harm caused by people not properly storing machines. make sure you a are using a strong battery too.they don't run well with a bad battery.
What should i look for or try next to get running properly.?

id spray it down real good with pb blaster... not the can... the 5 gallon bucket of the liquid stuff... id put it in a bug sprayer and soak everything except seat and grips...

As a quick check, rough idle could be the z hose or the fuel pressure regulator.

Welcome from a fellow Alabamian. I too have a difficult to start '85 that sat outdoors for several years. Air leaks are what I am finding to be the cause and I too am hunting them down. Runs GREAT once warmed up, but takes a few minutes to get there. I recently tried wrapping the intakes with electrical tape and that helped a little. Looks like those are next to be replaced, I've done just about everything else. Hard to believe those 33 yr. old parts need replacing. :giggles
Smoking is a "characteristic" that can be avoided by parking on the center stand.
Work your way through the diagnostic tree and you will get there.
