Hi everyone! My name is AJ and I'm from Germantown, WI. I recently inherited my uncle's pride and joy when he passed away...a 1985 K100RS. It's only got 27K miles on it and still runs great, but could use a little cosmetic TLC. I've been a sportbike guy for the last 10 years, but after riding this thing a little I may have fallen in love. Currently I have a pretty highly modded 2008 Hayabusa that I daily drove, but I think that may change.... :)
I came across this forum while searching for K100 parts and info and it looks like a great place to hang out. I'm looking forward to restoring my new toy....right now I'm unsure if I just want to keep all the OEM plastics on it and restore it to "like new" condition or if I want to go extreme and do a custom naked setup....hmmmm. Just out of curiosity...what do you think the resale value of a custom naked one compared to "like new" restored would be?
P.S. I'm looking for a new/used clutch lever and the replacement mirror glass and orange signal lens for the right side(throttle side) if anyone has one... ;)

Welcome to MB.com, WickedMoto.
27k is some pretty low miles for a K bike. Lucky you.
With those low miles, I'd say a well-restored one would fetch around $4k - but that's just one person's opinion.
Whether you want to go OEM or custom naked is up to you. If you're looking for ideas then here's a thread over at ADVrider with LOTS of pics of various K bikes with lots of customs thrown in which might give you some ideas: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=657248 (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=657248)
I can probably dig up a good clutch lever for you but for the glass and lens it's probably easiest just to buy new:

Right turn signal lens: 46631453002

Thanks frankenduck and johnny!
Thanks for those part numbers too! I'll give the dealer a call and see what those will cost me. Let me know if you dig up that clutch lever too.

Keep her stock looking. She's a classic. Put some work into the suspension and set it up for your personal comfort, but keep the stock look.
Just my opinion, as I happen to have recently acquired the very same year/model myself. I'm liking her more every time I ride her!
And speaking of chasing parts, I checked with the local dealer and the lock shop where I get BMW ignition keys cut in an effort to get another key for the luggage. I came up short. The BMW shop spent a lot of time wandering through the parts stuff on the computer and decided I could order a key, but I couldn't order the 059 key I need. Can you believe that? BMW puts numbers on the keys for what reason...?
