Title: Got my stolen & crashed brick back i need some help
Post by: Chri5 on May 30, 2018, 03:20:44 PM
So i got my brick back now to start the repairs....

Step one issue one rear wheel back on

The rear wheel definitely came loose after the abuse i found two of the old bolt but they are knacked so more are on order but trying a same spec bolt i think the thread in the final drive might be shot to there is nothing left in the rear rotor hub centre part dunno if thats from bolt wear or if that should be a propper thread but the bolts will only turn 1-2 times into the thread in the hub so has any one ever had to retap /helicoil these or is this going to be a new final drive?

Or any other suggestions

Issue two

When the bike was found it was laying on the left hand side with a pool of oil (fairly clean so im guessing gear box oil) i havent investigated this yet but is it possible this leak was cause by it being on its side for a few hours? When i picked it up this afternoon the weep hole between the clutch and gear box (on the base) has residue from oil on as well ill be pulling the gearbox off this weekend to look deep but any pointers to typical places to look would be great

This thread may go on for a while as i pick through every thing so thanks in advance i hope i dont have major replacements need .... :musicboohoo:

Put your bike's year in your profile because parts vary in different years.

I'm not certain I understand your first issue. If you believe the wheel bolts through its center to the final drive, it does not if it is a 2 valve K100. No bolt goes through the center of the wheel into the center of the hub on a 2 valve K100, but a 4-hole spacer is needed between the wheel and the drive.

Gear oil smells like sulfur. When you remove the gear box with the bike upright, it should be apparent what's leaking.

Laitch, there is a threaded hole in the centre of the final drive on both 2V K100's and K75's.  This hole accepts a wheel lug bolt same as the other 4 bolts that secure the wheel to the final drive.  However, the intent of this bolt is not primarily for securing the wheel (although it does).  It's primary purpose is to secure a device that accepts the prongs of the hub cap.  I have such a cap on my K75.  Usually this hole is blocked off with a plastic plug that can be removed.
