Title: Corrosion on my gas cover seal anyone?
Post by: achtung3 on April 12, 2018, 03:51:34 PM

Can anyone help to prevent this stuff from happening again?

I was changing fuel filter on my K75S gas tank and found this weird beige powdery stuff between the gas cover seal, and all around the rim of the tank cover.
I scrapped and steel wool polished it out from the tank and the bottom of the cover but the rubber seal can not be cleaned.

The gas cap rubber seal is hard and coated with this stuff, I ordered a new seal and I would like to know in how to prevent this stuff from happening again.

Thanks in advance

had one like that. I just cleaned the corrosion off , smeared some silicon grease on and used new gaskets
