hi
I've been riding this new to me bike (about 90,000km) a few months now with not losing or using any oil.
It was unused for a few years until i got it. After servicing, to test if the fan worked i let it idle about 20 minutes and wasn't getting hot enough for fan to work so revved it to 2000 for about 5 minutes, the fan then turned on, then off, as expected.
The next day there was about one or two tablespoons of oil drained from the oil pump drain hole.
I did this test a second time with the same result. apart from this it has not leaked one drop of oil.If i leave it to idle after a ride until the fan comes on, it doesn't leak. From this forum im thinking the pump has a drain gallery back to the sump.
Have i understood that right, could that be blocked and causing the problem?

i got it jan 2017, 75,000km on odo but think its done 90,000
serviced it, did the test which resulted in leak when i started riding it but hasnt leaked since, that is prob 5,000km
im confused about the cause but not too worried cause done 5,000km since without leaking one drop on the concrete garage floor.

Used bikes like yours that have been neglected need riding after the aged and declining hoses, rubber parts and filters have been replaced. Enjoy the bike and quit obsessing. If the oil level isn't dropping rapidly during use and it isn't leaving oil slicks everywhere you park it, move on to something else.

greetings...
my bricks unusually leak rare oil... i look at it like a blessing from gawd... topping it off all the time assures always fresh oil... this photo was 7 days on the center stand...
