Title: Engine serial number - build year?

Anyone have a link to help determine / confirm build year based on engine serial #? I tried a search (incl the Laitch method) but could not find anything ..?

do you have some reason to believe the engine is not original to the bike?  the VIN will tell you the build year and month.

Thanks for replies ... but is was not for my bike. I'm trying to validate the build year of another engine and so there is no VIN associated with it ... only the SNo of the engine. Think I may have found a link that has provided that.
