Title: differential rod bushes

Hi Guys, just quietly working away on my 1990 K1, one day she will be back on the road..... Just put in a new clutch, greased the splines, new swing arm bearings etc. Putting her back together and I decide to change the differential rod bushes.... yes thats right, call me anal, but thought it was a good idea. Ordered new bushes (thats no 2 & 3 on the parts list below which are both the same part number so exactly the same). Now I am waiting for them to arrive from Germany at a heathy $80 AUD. So I am about to take out the old bushes, has anyone done that? I assume I just hit them with a hammer till they come out, and if they don't come out then hit them harder? Manual doesn't say how to remove them, they seem well stuck in there.

Using a hair dryer or heat gun, heat the fitting that holds the bushing until it's warm to the touch, apply penetrant, have a café cubano, wash the coffee cup, then drive out the bushing using a socket of appropriate diameter. Repeat if necessary. Alternatively, apply freeze-spray to the bushing then drive it out. Hammer too hard and you'll break that support. Don't unleash that terrible beast within. :giggles

Heat them up, spray rost off ice and then use a nice guys press with a 20mm scocket and out they pop.👍

Did exactly that, lots of heat & rost off & 20mm socket and press, took a lot of pressure before they moved out! All done and new ones pressed back in. Thanks very much
