Hi, Playing around on fleebay when I should be working (As usual) I saw a 2002 R1150GS for sale. I then noticed that apart from a tab it is running on an identical final drive as K1100 or late K100rs. The I thought I wonder if the spoke GS wheels would be a direct fit? Hmmmm. Anyone noticed or tried ?. :dunno

The drives are similar, but not identical. The rear brake and shock mount differently. On the front, the axle is a different diameter and the R bike has a speedometer sending unit alongside the front wheel. Both are surmountable but modifications are necessary.
Obviously the diameters are different as well which will introduce other considerations to resolve.

Beemerphile, are the hubs on the wheels identical or easily modified to be interchangeable on either final drive? I think that is the original question. It sounds like you should be familiar with them.

I have a set of R1150 wheels that I was considering to use on my K1100, but I have not yet done the work to try them. I have two sets of 3-spoke wheels to burn through first.

It looks to me as if the minimum scope of work is to remove the rear disk and grind down the disc attachment points and be sure to use the right length wheel bolts. For the front, it appears that you may be able to use the K1100 wheel bearings in the R1150 front wheel in order to use the stock axle. It may take a custom spacer to make up the area where the speedo sensor used to live. I haven't really worked it out, but it is not plug-n-play.
