Answer. No. Question. Is a blindfold compulsory or optional. :yow

my understanding is at the turn of the century, it was undignified for a lady to ride on the pillion. Hence, if a gentleman wished for his mate to also enjoy the pleasures of motor biking, some sort of attached chair was necessary. The forecar was one option, albeit a bad one, as was a towed car, which failed because of exhaust and dust. Hence the sidecar, even with it's inherent faults, was the best solution.

Hmm you mentioned a fore car, a tow car and a sidecar - what about an up car?? A double decker motorbike sounds like a challenge!

Upon further reflection the driver should be in the front.
The bars split and mounted on each side similar to a tracked thing [Bobcat]
the seat right on the airbox, passenger on what is now the driverseat, gas tank moved behind...
we had a fun discussion about having dual controls, Team Forecar Racing
The ability to lock out either set
But wait there's MORE
adding that final element

Upon further reflection the driver should be in the front. . . . But wait there's MORE
I've done some preliminary design work for you—no charge.
