Title: Throttle mechanism—how much grease?

So, I’m spending the evening cleaning up my front master cylinder, throttle bodies and throttle linkage.

This linkage was packed full of what looks like old, white lithium grease. What lube do you use in here and how much? I’ve cleaned a lot out of it out but you can see some of what remains. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180218/116e54ce3aa59ca174c2aa31a36f69eb.jpg)

I use white lithium spray grease on all the moving parts good coating. There is no need to pack the recesses with grease, just clean and grease every 12 months. I also lube the cable with PTFE spray lubricant called Triflow at the same time. Do not use WD40 type lubricants on the cable it can cause the Teflon liner to degrade.

Thanks for the advice Martin. I’ve got 95% of the old shmoo out of there using dental tools, q-tips and oil eater so now I can use a little proper lubricant. [emoji106]

I use a tiny bit of spline lube painted onto the surfaces of the gear drive and the pin the gear rotates on.  Messy but Molybdenum is good stuff and the spline lube won't work it's way out of the moving parts.
