I am getting my bike ready to paint and am wondering the trick for disassembling the RS mirrors. I have them off the fairing. The front trim around the mirror seems to be held in place by tabs, but not knowing where they are and how to release them, I am afraid of hearing an expensive "pop" if I experiment with more force. Tricks-n-tips?
thx

Fold up a towel into several layers and lay it on the floor. Take the mirror pod mirror facing the floor and bring it down sharply onto the stacked towel. The force will release the mirror from its mount.

I have the mirror loose from the mount. I did that before I removed the mounts. What I need to do is remove the front trim around the mirror from the body of the housing. The alternative is masking it for painting, but I find I get a better job if the item is fully disassembled.

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood your question.
