I have a spare K100 instrument cluster. The odometer doesn't work.
Does it make economic sense to have it repaired?

It makes economic sense if you have a reliable source for the repair, can afford it and have something more productive to do with your time other than attempt the repair yourself.

The classic odo failure is from the gears stripping out, and it's totally fixable by replacing the gears. You can find the how-to here and many other places. It never hurts to have a spare cluster, and you could always sell it. Lots of clusters are getting binned by our "Cafe" loving brothers -- good ones need to be preserved, IMO.

even not working a presentable unit could go for $100 or so on ebay, good ones are north of $300 so it would be worth the $80 for a new gearset.
